WAGETru ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Paystub submissions: When you submit a paystub, we collect:

Employer name, job title, industry
Education level, years of experience, years at employer
City and state (not your home address)
Gross pay, net pay, and deduction amounts
Filing status, union status
Uploaded paystub image (temporarily — see Section 4)

We do NOT collect or store:

Your name or signature
Social Security Number
Home address
Bank account or routing numbers
Employee ID numbers
Email address or login credentials (no accounts required)

2. How We Use Your Information

To display anonymized wage data for public comparison
To calculate aggregate statistics (averages by company, role, location)
To verify the accuracy of submitted pay data using AI processing
To improve the accuracy of our calculations and platform

3. AI Processing

Uploaded paystub images are processed by an AI system (OpenAI) to extract pay data. The AI:

Reads the paystub to extract earnings, taxes, and deductions
Checks for any visible personal information (PII)
Flags submissions that may contain unredacted personal data

The AI does not store your image. Processing occurs once, and the extracted data (numbers only) is saved to our database without any personal identifiers.

4. Image Deletion

Uploaded paystub images are permanently deleted within 24 hours of submission. This process is automated and irreversible. After deletion:

No copy of your original document exists on our servers
Only the anonymized numerical data remains in our database
There is no way to reconstruct or retrieve the original image

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only data made publicly visible is:

Company name, job title, industry
City and state
Education level, experience, tenure
Pay figures (gross, net, deductions)
Filing status, union status

This data cannot be traced back to any individual.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies for:

Basic site functionality
Anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage)
Advertising (Google AdSense) — see Section 7

7. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

All data transmitted via HTTPS encryption
Paystub images stored in private, encrypted storage
Database access restricted to authorized services only
Row-level security policies on all database tables

9. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal identifiers, submitted data cannot be linked back to you. However, if you believe your personal information was published in error:

Use the "Flag" feature on any listing you believe contains PII
We review all flags within 2 hours and remove any personal information immediately

10. Children's Privacy

WAGETru is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
